The Tapia Center is hosting the residential Tapia-MolSSI Workshop in Computational Chemistry (July 19-24, 2020) at Rice University, Houston, Texas.
This a free five-day workshop open to all undergraduate students majoring in chemistry related fields. Preference will be given for underrepresented, low income sophomores and juniors. The workshop focuses on scientific programming skills and applications in computational chemistry that will enhance the students’ opportunity to land an undergraduate research experience, job, or internship in computational chemistry. No prior programming experience is required.
The workshop will be lead by:
- Professor Ashley McDonald, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, California Polytechnic State University
- Dr. Jessica Nash, MolSSI Software Scientist.
Enhancement Speakers in 2019 included 2011 Medal of Science Recipient and Rice Professor Richard Tapia, Johns Hopkins University Professor and ACS Board of Directors Member Rigoberto Hernandez and Vice President for Research and University of Minnesota Professor Chris Cramer, among other speakers from industry.

Thank you for signing up for the MolSSI Workshop. We hope you and your family are doing well during this difficult time. These past weeks coping with COVID-19 have been challenging and new to all of us. Given the fluidity of the situation, we wanted to keep you abreast of the current status of the Tapia Camps for this summer. As of today, Rice has cancelled all events and activities on campus – including summer camps through July 1st.
The Tapia-MolSSI Workshop in Computational Chemistry has been rescheduled to July 19-24, 2020 at Rice University, Houston, Texas. Unfortunately we will not be able to provide transportation costs to Houston, TX.
